Johnny Manziel won a Heisman Trophy, became a legend and is a likely top-10 in the May’s NFL Draft. If you ask one NFL scout, he’ll tell you Manziel owes all that to former Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans.
Evans has been getting high praise lately, and one unnamed NFC scout told NJ.com that the 6’5″ wide receiver “made Johnny Manziel who he is, and not the other way around.”
“He’s not real fast, but he has real good hands,” the personnel man said. “He’s big and strong. Throw it up there, and he’ll go get it.”
“I like this guy,” the scout said. “In my opinion, he made Johnny Manziel, not the other way around. A lot of times, Manziel just ran around and threw it up for grabs, and he came down with it.”
The two combined to form one of college football most dominant QB-WR connections over the past two seasons.
