When Lebron James made the decision to publicly embarrass the city of Cleveland by breaking their collective hearts with a national television special, I was certain that they would despise him forever…and then reality kicked in. As much as Clevelanders may want to hate King James; they can’t help but admit they need him desperately.
While I was walking into Quicken Loans arena, I encountered a large group of Cavalier fans who were passing out free t-shirts printed: “COME HOME LEBRON”, complete with his number from the good ol’ days. The lime-green shirts had quite a presence among the crowd, indicating that much of the seething rage demonstrated by the city during the “jersey-burning” period; has dissipated.
