UFC Middleweight champion Chris Weidman won’t be able to headline the UFC’s Memorial Day weekend card due to a knee injury he sustained today. The injury is said to require minor surgery and the fight which features Weidman vs Lyoto Machida will now take place on July 5th during UFC’s annual expo.
There has yet to be announcement by UFC President Dana White regarding the move and the replacement for the May fight.
It’d be interesting to see if that July fight could feature a rehabbed Anderson Silva in the co-main event against a non-TRT using Vitor Belfort for #1 contender status. I may have to give Dana a call and pitch that idea.
