Amir Khan is doing everything in his power to make sure he doesn’t miss out on a shot to fight Floyd Mayweather the next time around. Khan has hired famed boxing consultant and friend of Golden Boy Promotions, Al Hayman.

Hayman is arguably the most influential man in boxing and if a fighter wants to guarantee himself prize fights moving forward then they solicit Haymon’s service. Khan seemed to be very aware of what Hayman provides him as a fighter:

“I am very happy to have signed with Al Haymon who has not only shown that he is a very astute businessman, but is extremely knowledgeable of the fight game and always has his fighters’ best interests at heart. I’m looking forward to building a long and successful relationship during this exciting stage of my career.” – Khan

It’s no secret that Khan wants a September fight against Floyd Mayweather but it is very possible he gets jumped again if Cotto dominates Martinez and request a Floyd rematch. There’s also the slim possibility of the Pacquiao fight but who are we kidding.

Haymon will at least guarantee Khan’s name is in the discussion and that Khan will get the best fight possible. A Khan vs Canelo fight in October wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize.
