Bob Arum Says Boycott Mayweather’s Fight, So He’ll Fight Pacquiao

Bob Arum has made millions of dollars, so who I am to tell him the best way to promote a potential fight between Pacquiao vs. Mayweather, but I am going to do it any way.

In my humble opinion, this isn’t the right way to get someone to negotiate with you.

“The Mayweather fight [against Maidana] is bad for the public, who are being talked to about spending good money on nonsense, and it’s bad for MGM, which continues to peddle non-competitive matches,” Arum said, telling reporters, “If you think it’s not competitive, write it … about Mayweather. Don’t not write it because he’ll deny you access.

“The only people who can make Floyd Mayweather fight Manny is the public if they boycott the nonsense on May 3. … There’s not a downside to sitting down and trying to make it happen. Any excuse for it not happening is just posturing.”

So, after trashing Mayweather’s upcoming fight and the MGM, Arum had this to say.

“Sit down at a conference table like normal human beings and negotiate a deal,” Arum urged.

I don’t think that will be happening any time soon.

  • Bob Arum is part of the reason why we will never see Mayweather vs. Pacquaio. He makes more money when he controls both fighters. Since he does not control Mayweather, Arum would lose money. If it’s one thing promoters hate, it’s losing money.
