Cowboys Pick Up 5th-Year Option On Tyron Smith
The Dallas Cowboys have exercised the fifth-year option on Tyron Smith’s contract, according to ESPN.com, keeping the 2011 first-round pick with the team at least through 2015.
Smith has developed into one of the premier offensive linemen in the NFL over his first three seasons in the league. Smith was selected to his first Pro Bowl last season and was also named a second-team All-Pro.
The option will pay Smith more than $10 million in 2015, while allowing both sides to hammer out a long-term deal that will keep the 24-year-old in Dallas for a long time.
