Athletes have the power to do some truly inspirational things, sometimes they aren’t even aware of this fact.
One story that illustrates this comes from 101 Great Goals and involves Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who went out of his way to meet a kid who was brought back to life because of his greatness on the field.
David, a young Real Madrid fan from Eastern Europe, had a bad accident while riding a bike, and as a result the boy fell into a three month long coma.
Trying to save the child, David’s parents brought him to a clinic specialising in child recovery in order to test a new method of treatment.
It was suggested that David may benefit to listen to commentary of Real Madrid and Portugal games on headphones as it was known that he was huge Cristiano Ronaldo fan. , Then, three months later, the boy woke up in the moment at apparently the exact moment he was listening to Cristiano scoring his third goal for POrtugal against Sweden in the World Cup playoff.
David received the surprise of a lifetime when he was invited to a recent Real Madrid Champions League game by Ronaldo who was made aware of the story after Polish magazine Fakt published the story.
The 14 year-old and his family also got to meet his idol following the game, take pictures, received his autograph and a shirt.
Awesome.
