NBC Sports is reporting that draft prospect and former FSU RB James Wilder Jr has been arrested for driving with a suspended license in Tampa on Sunday night. Wilder Jr was released on $1K bail on Monday at 12;20am but has been cited for driving violations at least four times. In addition, his arrest record included a February 2012 situation where he was accused of battery to an officer. He later had to serve jail time when he violated his probation by showing up to sheriff’s work camp with alcohol on his breath.
This could potentially be an issue for Wilder Jr. He seems to not be able to settle himself when it comes to run-ins with the law. His decision to forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft seemed really premature, and this arrest won’t help his draft case. Besides that, driving with a suspended license should be the last thing that anyone is ever arrested for. It just takes responsibility and accountability for someone to maintain their driver’s license.
