Former LSU linebacker Tahj Jones is in serious condition after receiving a gunshot wound to the abdomen Friday night, only two days after participating in LSU’s Pro Day on Wednesday.
CBS Sports is reporting that Jones was visiting a female friend Friday at a Sulphur, Louisiana apartment complex when 36-year-old former LSU football player Brandon Winey showed up. A fight ensued during which Winey pulled out a gun and shot Jones in the abdomen.
Jones was driven to the local hospital and then transferred to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., for a Saturday surgery.
Winey fled the scene after the shooting, but was later arrested without incident at his home in Lake Charles, La., and charged with attempted murder.
Winey a former LSU offensive lineman, was taken in the sixth-round of the 2001 NFL Draft.
