Ex-NBA Larry Johnson Says Blacks Should Start “Their Own” League

New York Knicks

Former UNLV and NBA star Larry Johnson has his own strong opinions about the Donald Sterling controversy.  On Saturday night, Johnson sent out a tweet saying that black people were focused on the wrong things and should focus on having a league of their own.

As Johnson put it, black people should focus on having their own league with black owners.   This isn’t the first time Johnson has caused a stir with his pro-black outlook on sports.

During the 1999 NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs, Johnson caused a stir by saying: “We’ve got a lot of rebellious slaves on this [Knicks] team.”

Johnson was hired by the Knicks two years ago and serves several front office roles as a basketball and business operations representative. It’s unclear if he’ll remain with the team under new team president Phil Jackson.

  • Ain’t nothing wrong with him saying that black people should have their own league and their own businesses when we say that white people get scared I think we’re coming together we can have that black people coming together that’s how we should be thinking I agree with Johnson it’s time for us to wake up

  • Its time. Not only basketball, football too. It got damn time for black to start businesses together where we reside, live, work etc. Do something together. We can make strides in numbers.

  • Uh….who’s going to pay them???

  • Wait….black people want segregation?? #CounterProductive
