The legendary Jim Brown finished his career with 12,312 rushing yards, after spending all nine years in Cleveland. Adrian Peterson often gets compared to Brown because they’re both big, athletic and downhill runners.
The 78-year old Brown believes AP could break Emmitt Smith’s NFL rushing record of 18,355 yards.
“If he wants that and he dedicates himself and he has good fortune, that’s a great possibility,” Browntold the Pioneer Press. “I think if he sets his goals and he understands his circumstances and he knows what it takes, that he can be successful. I’m not saying that he will break the record, I’m just saying it’s a possibility.”
Peterson currently has 10,115 yards at age 29. He’ll need to average 1,373.5 yards over the next six seasons to own the rushing record.
