Matt Kemp made a triumphant return to the plate in Sunday night’s game versus the Giants.
The Dodgers 6-2 victory over their rival San Francisco Giants was largely due in part to what the injury riddled star player Matt Kemp contributed. Kemp announced he was healthy and ready to go, and he proved that and then some.
Kemp started the season on the DL after undergoing off season ankle surgery and the future of the former MVP candidate was of big concern. Kemp belted two homers against Matt Cain, as they extended their record to 5-3.
Afterwards an ecstatic Kemp sounded revived as he spoke to the media:
“Is the Beast back? We’ve got a long road ahead of us, I hope the Beast is back. I feel good. I’m just getting my legs under me, taking it game by game. It always feels good to hit home runs here, because of when you hear the crowd. It has been a while, so it did feel good.”
The only thing keeping the Dodgers from post season glory is the injury bug; a healthy Kemp keeps the Dodgers above and beyond the pack.
