The Steve Kerr-to-the-Knicks stories have taken on a life of their own, but Howard Beck of Bleacher Report suggest we might slow down on the Kerr to the Big Apple reports.
According to Beck, Kerr would reportedly prefer to coach and remain on the west coast, with a Western Conference team.
Kerr is eying several potential openings around the league, according to sources, and he would prefer to stay on (or near) the West Coast. Kerr lives in San Diego, and he has a daughter attending college at Cal, in Berkeley. Contrary to a New York Post report, Kerr has not asked TNT for schedule flexibility in order to take the Knicks job, according to two sources with Turner Sports.
The three west coast teams with potential openings are the Lakers, Warriors and Trail Blazers. The Utah Jazz now have an opening, but I’m not sure if there’s mutual interest from both.
I think we can scratch the Lakers off that list as well. If the Buss family didn’t want to bring back Phil Jackson, I can’t see them hire a former Jackson player and disciple.
