Bad news for soccer fans, super-duperstar Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Real Madrid’s clash with bitter rival Barcelona in this weeks Copa del Rey Final.

The reigning Ballon d’Or winner will miss the game with knee and thigh problems. While the team hoped he would recover in time for the match, according to the Guardian, Ronaldo has been unable to practice and ruled out,

The Real manager Carlo Ancelotti had suggested he might make the final earlier in the week but on the eve of the match he admitted: “Cristiano is not available because we do not want to take risks with him.”

“The tests conducted on Cristiano Ronaldo have detected a muscular injury to his left hamstring,” a statement said. “This is pending developments.”

Madrid hopes that the injury is not serious, and have their fingers crossed that Ronaldo will be able to return for their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich next Wednesday.
