The Minnesota Timberwolves wrap up their regular season Wednesday night, and for the 10th straight season will be watching the playoffs from home.
With superstar Kevin Love a year away from free agency, Minnesota is understandably in a rush to improve their team enough that it will entice Love to stick around.
With a draft pick expected to be at the tail end of the lottery, the Wolves only real option for an immediate upgrade is on the trade market. According to the Pioneer Press, despite their limited options, owner Glen Taylor says Minny will not be moving one of their key players.
On the possibility of trading (Nikola) Pekovic, Love or (Ricky) Rubio, Taylor said, “Those guys are pretty well set here.”
Keeping all three around would be a wise decision for Minnesota. Building around that core three could be enough to keep Love in the Twin Cities. Expect any player on the Wolves roster not named Pekovic, Love or Rubio to be available this summer.
