A day before Virginia St. and Winston-Salem were supposed to play in the CIAA Championship game, Rudy Johnson WSSU QB was attacked during a luncheon when he went to the bathroom.
The game was canceled and now the perpetrator will have to spend some time in jail.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports Lamont Britt pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of simple assault.
The judge sentenced Britt to 45 days in jail, suspended for one year, probation for a year, and imposed the condition that he complete or be in the process of completing his education. Judge Denise Hartsfield also ordered Britt to cooperate with any continued investigations.
