Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have a plan for Ryan Mallett at quarterback. It likely includes Mallett spending one more season as a backup before bolting as a free agent, but Belichick has a plan for the big armed quarterback.
In a Thursday interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Belichick made it clear that the Pats were not interested in moving Mallett.
A Mallett trade is “not something we’re that interested in,” Belichick said.
“We feel like we have a good quarterback situation,” Belichick continued. ” … That’s not a good position to not feel good about.”
Second-round pick Jimmy Garappolo is not ready to be Tom Brady’s primary backup and there’s simply no reason to move Mallett at this time.
