There seems to be some controversy brewing in Cleveland over who the Browns pick at No. 22 was supposed to be. Browns team officials have denied a report that, after trading up to pick No. 22, they were prepared to take quarterback Teddy Bridgewater — and even had his name on the draft card — before owner, Jimmy Haslam, made them change the pick to Johnny Manziel.
“That is not true,” said Zak Gilbert, Zak Gilbert told ESPNCleveland.com‘s Tony Grossi, who wrote about the story. “I was in the draft room. That didn’t happen.”
First-year coach Mike Pettine reiterated those sentiments Monday.
