Even with the loss of Darrelle Revis, the Buccaneers are still pretty good as a defensive unit. Lovie Smith has a track record of churning out great defenses and he expects the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to follow suit.
“We’re going to be a good football team and in order to be a good football team we have to play great, not good, but great defense and I think we will,” Smith said, via WTSP.
Buccaneers stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has an even broader outlook on the defense, and he told WTSP that he believes they’ll be a scary defense once everyone gets on the same wave length.
“It’s a great defense to play in and once everybody figures it out and have the ins and outs of it, it’s going to be scary,” said McCoy. “We don’t even have [safeties] Mark Barron or Dashon Goldson going with us right now, you add those two and it’s like ‘sheesh.’ “
