“Real Recognize Real” -The Urban Philosopher Young Jeezy
I think I have a new favorite analyst. Jay Bilas brought his talents to Charlotte, NC and spoke at Queens University graduation. Jay Bilas did an amazing job with this speech. He stuck to the 5 “B” of speaking: Be Brief Brother Be Brief. Within in the 15 mins he spoke he gave some of the best advice:
- Take pictures (You’ll love the way you look now in the future)
- You’re not about to get a job, your about to embark in a career
- Never turn down an opportunity in your field. No job is too small, its ALWAYS an opportunity.
- Your life is just a series of choices that you make. Take your time and think things through
- Be Nervous. Fear is a good thing, it means you care and it means that doing well is important to you. Dont be scared
- Dont fear failure in your career. Fear failure with your family. Make time for them, you’ll never regret it
- Set your own standards. You measure your success. Don’t compare your success to others, its a waste of time
- Dont click on internet porn at work
- Dont worry about how much money you make right now. Love the work you do now, the money will follow.
- When you wear a suit and tie, wear an undershirt (Guys only)
- Make everything you do important
- Show up, shut up and keep up
- Be a great teammate. Help your colleagues
- Dont just work hard, work smart.
- Dont get emotional over offers of money. Its just money, politely decline and move on. If you need it, accept and move on. Its just money
- Next Play, don’t dwell on anything. You got to move on.
- You dont get to have it all.
- Believe in yourself. You only stop you
Yes, I actually typed those out for you, even more so for myself. Sometimes we need to hear these things to get motivated, we all have a dream thats worth accomplishing. This speech was amazing and had great gems. Jay Bilas spoke on things everyone needs to hear thats chasing a dream. Hopefully you will take the time and enjoy this 15min speech he gave, even more importantly you take some of the things he said and utilize it to your own career. Seek and learn from everything and everybody.
Go get it!
