Steve Masiello can breathe a sigh of relief. ESPN.com is reporting that the head basketball coach at Manhattan has completed his course load at Kentucky and has his degree.
Kentucky’s Jay Blanton told ESPN.com on Thursday that Masiello has completed his coursework and will be awarded his degree August.
Masiello has been on unpaid leave by the school since April — after it was discovered that he had not earned his degree from Kentucky. Masiello had accepted the South Florida job at that point, but a background check discovered that he hadn’t finished the requirements to earn his degree.
Masiello led the Jaspers to a 25-8 record, the NCAA tournament and a near-upset over Louisville this past March.
