Their coach man be a man but he is no longer 40 and he will be without one practice per week due to the school’s APR rating. APR is the Academic Progress Rate and Oklahoma State will fall below the minimum requirements to keep from getting punished. This was first reported by GoPokes.com:
OSU fell a fraction of a point shy of avoiding penalty, with its number at 929.41 for the last four years. Had the Cowboys been at 929.50, the number would have been rounded up, meaning they missed by nine-one-hundreds of a point. The Cowboys avoided a more damaging postseason ban.
The fallout: a loss of one practice day per week, according to a source within the athletic program.
This is an actual real punishment attached to academics. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I am shocked by this but these types of punishments are the only way to really put the student back in “student-athlete.”
The problem is that horse has left the barn a long time ago and there really is no going back.
