In what many are calling the worst loss of her career, reigning French Open champion, and world No.1 ranked, Serena Williams has been ousted at Roland Garros following her 6-2, 6-2 second round defeat at the hands of Spain’s Garbine Muguruza.
With No.2 ranked Li Na’s exit in the opening round, this is the first time in the Open era that the top two ranked women’s players have not made it past the third round, according to the WTA. The Williams’ sisters went two for two today, as Venus also lost at the French Open, dropping her match to Anna Schmiedlova 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
