Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops has received an extension and a raise that will take his contract through the 2018 season. His salary will raise from $2.1M to $2.5M in 2017-18 and to $2.65 million in 2018-19. You may be wondering what Kentucky’s record in football was during his first season. It was 2-10 without an SEC win.
However, Stoops did recruit surprisingly well to Kentucky bringing in the 22nd ranked composite class and is off to a nice start this year. I’m not personally mad at Stoops’ agent for getting his client more money and probably a better buyout in case he is fired but Kentucky should be ashamed of themselves for rewarding good but not great recruiting and getting played by an agent.
This may work out for the Wildcats but they will have no room to complain in 3 years when he is on the hot seat.
