Earlier today it was reported that US Women’s Soccer goalie Hope Solo was arrested in Seattle for assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew. Solo’s team is now speaking out and saying that the details released are false and that Hope is the victim in this fiasco.
“Hope is not guilty of any crime,” attorney Todd Maybrown said in an email to The Associated Press. “In fact, our investigation reveals that Hope was assaulted and injured during this unfortunate incident. We look forward to the opportunity to present the true facts in court and to having this matter behind Hope very soon.”
Police say that when they arrived at the scene shortly after 1am, Solo was drunk and her sister and nephew had minor injuries. They also questioned witnesses and determined that Solo was the aggressor. Police have not released Solo’s sister’s identity. Solo was book on two counts of fourth degree domestic violence assault and will remain in custody at least until she appears in court on Monday.
