The New York Jets appear to be playing absolutely no games this season.
Troubled running back, Mike Goodson has been axed from the team, reportedly after missing the first of three mandatory mini camp sessions.
Head coach, Rex Ryan, told the media on Tuesday that Goodson would be “dealt with” and sounded particularly frustrated when asked why Goodson was absent from team activities:
“That’s good question,” Ryan said. “I don’t know. I haven’t talked to him. But certainly, I recognize the fact that he’s not there.” Ryan said.
Goodson also missed all of the team’s OTAs. While those workouts are optional, the one he missed on Tuesday was not, and this incident, in combination with his looming weapons indictment (he faces up to ten years in prison if convicted), seemed to be enough to entice the Jets to go in a different direction.
