Today’s elimination match between Uruguay and Italy is getting a whole lot of attention for a completely terrible reason.
Uruguayan star Luis Suarez made headlines for biting Italian Giorgio Chiellini late in the match, and not being punished at all by officials for doing so.
There were a couple of incredible things about the situation. One being that Suarez wasn’t punished for his actions (although a suspension is likely coming). Another being that this isn’t even the first time Suarez has bit an opponent!
But perhaps the most incredible thing of all is that a Norwegian man actually won the equivalent of $5,600 after betting that Suarez would bite someone. Seriously. Fox Sports has more on the winner.
One Norwegian man won $5,600 thanks to Suarez’s habit of sinking his teeth into an opponent.
According to “Afterposten,” Norway’s largest newspaper, Thomas Syversen took a chance on the 175 to 1 odds that Suarez would bite someone during the match.
“This is probably the sickest game I’ve handed in, not to mention the sickest game I’ve won,” Syversen told “Aftenposten”
Who said making a prop bet would never pay off?
