According to a report from Yahoo Sports, league sources claim that the Chicago Bulls are pursuing Orlando Magic shooting guard Arron Afflalo during the offseaosn.
Afflalo, 28, has two years left on his contract – including an Early Termination Option (ETO) provision next summer – and front office executives believe the Magic are prioritizing a trade for Afflalo over working to extend his contract.
Although the Bulls are one of the best defensive teams in the league, they struggled on the offensive end in Derrick Rose’s absence. They are looking to bring in offensively skilled players to balance out on both ends of the floor. Afflalo is coming off his best offensive season averaging 18.2 points per game with a 45.9 shooting percentage. The Chicago Bulls have the 16th and 19th pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. More than likely they will work out some type of arrangement with the Orlando Magic to trade one of those picks for Afflalo.
Orlando has the fourth and 12th picks in the draft. With a rapidly developing young core group it makes sense for the Magic to trade Afflalo ,and continue grooming their young guys. On the other hand, the Bulls are looking to win championships now. Afflalo would certainly help them on the offensive end provided Rose can stay healthy.
