The Chicago Bulls enter a huge offseason as they plan to add a superstar piece to compliment Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. Chicago is looking to reclaim the Eastern Conference again like they did in Rose’s last full, healthy season in the league when he won the MVP award.
Chicago is even willing to trade their young, growing piece in Taj Gibson to do so.
“They are looking to exhaust as many assets as it will take,” a league source tells the Chicago Sun-Times.
Gibson was huge off the bench for the Bulls, and always has been. He is transformed into becoming even the team’s starting power forward, outplaying Carlos Boozer throughout this past NBA season.
According to ESPN, the Bulls are resistant to trade Gibson, but they are willing to do it if they can get a star piece in return. They are interested in Carmelo Anthony in free agency, but they also could get Kevin Love if they include Gibson in a package deal.
Though the Minnesota Timberwolves indicate that Love is here to stay for at least next season, you never know. Love has been linked to several trade rumors since announcing his frustration with the T-Wolves franchise. Chicago may have enough to get him.
The Bulls have enough cap space to get a star player, but throwing Gibson in the mix for a trade could allow them clear more and be able to structure their ideal roster of the 2014-15 season.
