If the Miami Heat want to win another championship (and keep LeBron James), it’s been made evident that they will need to reload, and if the reports coming out of South Beach are correct, one of their superstars is taking a step in the right direction to make that happen.
According to the New York Daily News; Dwyane Wade is reportedly looking to opt out of the last two years of his $41.5 million dollar deal, and will sign a four-year, $50-$55 million dollar extension, in order to help the Heat with their flexibility in the upcoming free agent market. Wade stood to make a boatload of money so it’s no surprise many thought he would choose to opt in, however, doing so would have severely limited the Heat’s options in terms of adding help for the Big 3, as well as likely made it more difficult for them to retain LeBron’s services.
Report: Dwyane Wade likely to opt out of 2 year $41M deal and sign for a 4 year $50-55M deal to clear up cap space.

If this report is true and Wade restructures his deal, Chris Bosh will likely be the next order of business. The best case scenario for the Heat involves James, Bosh, and Wade all making similar decisions, which in turn will vacate excess cap space and really open up the cabinet for the team.
I wonder if Kobe Bryant is watching this play out? Yes, he was paid handsomely for his body of work with the Los Angeles Lakers, however, he’s eating up such a large portion of the salary cap that he’s made it difficult for his team to add the type of star power needed in the Western conference to compete.
