Aaron Hernandez’s lawyers have decided not to block the prosecution’s request to delay his trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd to January 2015.
While the trial had initially been set for Oct. 6 in Bristol County Superior Court, lawyers for the former New England Patriots tight end said they would not object to a Jan. 5, 2015, date. With the new date, the jury commissioner could begin sending notices to prospective jurors in Bristol County as soon as November, according to the documents.
There has been speculation that the request for more time may be an indication that the prosecution’s case against Hernandez is weak. The former Patriots star has also been charged with two other murders from 2012.
