D Rose Says Bulls Were Upset With Him, But Didn’t Say it To His Face

Things could be getting tense in Chicago between Derrick Rose and the Bulls. At the very least, there is a miscommunication about the feelings in the organization as he recovered from injuries. Here is what Rose told Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times about how the organization felt and if there was tension:

“I’m happy I didn’t personally see it. I don’t want to see that. I kind of wonder where it was coming from because it seemed like whenever I was around, everything was all right. It bothered me because when I wasn’t around, I would hear from certain people that everything wasn’t all right.’’

Rose himself said he heard there was tension. In that case you can’t blame “sources” for bad information. Well unless you are Owner Jerry Reinsdorf:

“I am confounded by the irresponsible report in the Chicago Sun-Times suggesting there is anything approaching discord or confusion between the Bulls executive office, coaching staff, and Derrick Rose or any other Bulls player. To the contrary, I can remember no time when the organization has been any more focused, optimistic, and cohesive. I’ve got to assume suggestions otherwise are intended to undermine the goals and objectives, spirit, and reputation of the Chicago Bulls. I am deeply disappointed that unnamed sources and totally inaccurate statements and assumptions can be used to foment nonexistent friction. The report is totally without basis or fact. It is pure malicious fiction.”

I don’t understand why Reinsdorf is mad at the Sun-Times. Rose himself opened the door for speculation that there was tension between his camp and the Bulls. I know sources are the fun punching bag these days but come on. Perhaps the owner should speak with Derrick instead of sounding off against the paper.

  • You don’t know why Reinsdorf is mad? Maybe it has something to do with the media across the nation starting rumors and half truths out of whole cloth for every story possible. Redskins, Sterlings, etc. etc.
