Doug Baldwin Doesn’t Agree With Carroll’s “Honor Your Contract” Statement

Pete Carroll questions September 11th attacks

Here is what Pete Carroll had to say about Marshall Lynch’s holding out for new deal.

“It’s a contract for a reason. We made a decision and it was signed, by us and by them,” Carroll told USA TODAY Sports. “We expect them to honor their contract just as we will. We’re going to honor it and we expect them to do the same.”

Here is what Seahawks Wide Receiver Doug Baldwin thinks about that.

Baldwin is correct, the only problem is this is the system his union agreed to. It is one where the teams can cut a player almost at any time, for any reasons, regardless of how many years are left on a contract and where a player is basically stuck even if he outperforms his deal.

The players have no leverage if the teams decides not to renegotiate. That is something Baldwin might want to bring up when it is time for a new CBA.

  • This is true with any job. You enter into a contract and do not have any negotiation and they can fire you at any time….
