Jameis Winston and his dad have been saying for a while now that Jameis planned on earning his degree from Florida State. Most people including myself have laughed this off. Now Jameis is talking about it again and is pretty convincing:

“It’s very important to me. I was always raised as a student first and an athlete second,” Winston said to NFL.com in regards to earning his degree before moving on to the NFL.

“I think that’s the main purpose in college. Some athletes lose that perspective .It’s about being a student-athlete, and not just getting that easy money and going to the league. Even if kids leave early, I would want them to come back and get that degree.”

It’s admirable that he wants to graduate before entering the NFL draft. However, it will be difficult to pass up being the potential number one pick. So do I 100% believe him? No.

It would be great for college football if he stays.
