Metta World Peace will be taking his talents worldwide next season.
ESPN’s Ian Begley first reported that the player formerly known as Ron Artest was close to a deal with the Chinese Basketball Association’s Sichuan Blue Whales; and now according to Peace’s twitter page, it looks like he’s en route to sign to play over there.
One day til china ? I met with three teams. Wow. One team remaining . Meaning, deal is done. Just have to sign now. Almost there China!!!

It doesn’t seem that long ago (last summer) that Peace proclaimed he wanted to go play basketball overseas, or perhaps arena football just days before signing a one-year deal with the New York Knicks.
At this point in his career, going to play in China is a great move for Metta World Peace. He’s likely guaranteed to make more money playing ball there than he would getting the NBA’s veteran minimum, and will be flush with assumably many more marketing opportunities than here in the States.
Let’s hope for the safety of everyone involved that Peace leaves Ron Artest in New York City.
