NFL teams are winning in the profits game. Earlier today the Packers released their financials, and it showed that NFL teams were able to split a sum of $6 billion generated mostly from the league’s television rights. Each team received around $187 million dollars, and that number doesn’t even include ticket sales.
Packers president Mark Murphy also confirmed that the teams profits rose an additional 4.3% from the previous season and credited this to new agreements with NFL Network and revenue from Nike. Since 2006 the revenue generated from these sources have rise a total of 56%. If you think this number is astonishing, the league is expected to have an epic boost in revenue next season due to new television deals with partners such as CBS. This alone should give the NFL more than $5 billion per season.
The Packers are the only public team, so they’re the only team that’s required to share their financials. Clearly Mavs owner Mark Cuban might want to rethink his opinion that the NFL has reached its peak, since these documents definitely show otherwise.
