The Spurs won the NBA championship and avoided a catastrophe in doing so. Yahoo Sports is reporting that Manu Ginobili will miss the FIBA World Cup of Basketball with a stress fracture in his right leg.
Ginobili, 36, was diagnosed with the early stages of a stress fracture in his exit physical with the Spurs. It’s an injury that appears to have developed late in San Antonio’s championship season, sources told Yahoo Sports.
Ginobili is seeking a second medical opinion before proceeding, sources said.
Ginobili is expected to need a two-month recovery period for the injury. Ginobili was his normal magical self in the NBA Finals averaging 12.3 points and 4.3 assists.
