Joe Riggs has had to wait 8 years for his second chance in the UFC and now he will have to wait a bit longer.
Riggs has been forced to withdraw from his September 13th fight against Paulo Thiago at UFC Fight Night 51 in Brazil after accidentally shot himself.
The UFC released a statement about the incident:
“We were made aware that newly-signed UFC competitor Joe Riggs was involved in an unfortunate accident last night. While cleaning his permitted firearm (a pistol), the gun discharged, injuring his hand and upper thigh. Riggs was transported to a nearby hospital in Arizona where he is being treated by physicians. We wish Joe a speedy recovery.”
It’s sad to see this happen to Riggs, who’s on a 6 fight win streak, and we wish him a speedy recovery.
