Sam Hinkie will either go down as the greatest GM in 76ers history, or the guy responsible for putting together the most talent group of assets ever assembled.
ESPN’s Chad Ford has already started his mock drafts for the 2015 NBA Draft, and the 76ers are the winners of another fantastic tank job.
According to the Mock, Hinkie, and the Sixers will land Duke freshman big man, Jahlil Okafor.
The team has two young centers in Noel and Embiid. But Okafor is the consensus No. 1 pick right now and with the exception of Emmanuel Mudiay, all of the other top prospects are bigs as well. While Okafor is different than Noel and Embiid — the Duke freshman is an old-school, back-to-the-basket, below-the-rim post beast — he could create a log jam considering Philly’s roster. But for GM Sam Hinkie, assets are the key right now and Okafor appears to be the most valuable asset in the draft.
Okafor, 6-foot-11, 275 pounds, is considered the top prospect in a draft loaded with big men. The 76ers then would have the most loaded front-court in NBA history, or some moves to make. This is going to be interesting.
