Honestly, I am little surprised by these comments allegedly from Wiggins. He never appeared to me as a guy who wanted to be THE MAN, but maybe I was wrong about him or maybe his feelings were hurt because LeBron didn’t want him.
Either way here is what his college coach Bill Self said Wiggins told him about being traded via AP.
“When all this trade stuff started, I talked to Andrew and Andrew told me, “I hope I get traded,” Self said. “And I’m like, ‘No you don’t.’ And he said, “Coach, I do. It’s better for me, knowing my personality and what I need to do, to go somewhere where I’m forced to be something as opposed to going in there where they’re going to be patient with me and I’m going to be a piece.”
If this puts a chip on Wiggins’ shoulder and adds some fuel to his fire, that is great for him. He will be the marquee guy on the T-Wolves so we will see if he can live up to those expectations.
