After coming off two major knee injuries this is to be expected but certainly now what the Chicago Bulls want to hear. According to an ESPN source, the Bulls point guard has been experiencing soreness in his knee since Team USA’s matchup against Brazil August 16.
Rose, who is training with Team USA, was given two straight days off to rest, though head coach Mike Krzyzewski noted in a radio interview that the rest was scheduled beforehand because Rose had been “going so hard.”
USA basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo also chimed in, citing that Rose thought he needed a bit of time off.
Rose is expected to play on Wednesday against the Dominican Republic.
Hopefully the soreness is just a result of him playing real minutes for the first time since 2013. However if it doesn’t seem to be going away, Rose might reconsider moving forward with Team USA or take a back seat to Kyrie Irving.
