It’s nothing new that offense and defense gets into little scuffles during training camps and practices, but sometimes the little scuffles can get out of hand. That’s exactly what happened during Florida Gators’ Thursday night practice. The defensive backs and wide receivers got into a brawl during a tackling drill, which led to CB Vernon Hargreaves III getting injured.
Hargreaves is a sophomore and the injury reportedly occurred to his left knee. He was seen icing it and noticeably limping to the point where he had to be assisted by trainers. Hargreaves started 10 of 12 games as a true freshman for the Gators. He recorded 38 tackles, 3 interceptions and 11 pass breakups, so a serious injury to him would be a huge blow for the Gators defense. Last season injuries decimated the Gators, so there was a lot of hope for a healthy team in 2014.
No one in Gators camp has made a statement on Hargreaves’ status thus far.
