With Braxton Miller being injured and out for an undetermined amount of time, it might be a good time for Buckeyes fans and the nation to get familiar with J.T. Barrett. J.T. was a four-star recruit out of Wichita Falls, TX. He is listed at 6’2″ 200lbs and runs a 4.5 40 yard dash. He was the number 6 QB to come out of the 2013 class.
You can see in the videos below that he fits Urban Meyers offense very well. They are breaking in 4 new starters on the offensive line this season so it’s not the most ideal time to have a redshirt freshman out there but the schedule does allow them to get comfortable and talent alone should get them off to a good start.
Here is a quote from offensive coordinator Tom Herman on Barrett and what he brings to the offense:
“The offense moves better when (Barrett is) in there,” Herman said after a scrimmage on Saturday. “And you can throw all the completion percentages and everything else in there, too. He’s completing more balls and making more of the right reads in the passing game and more of the right reads in the running game. But at the end of the day, the offense moves better when he’s in. And sometimes it doesn’t as much (when Jones is in).”
