Could fans be treated to one last Hulk Hogan match? If the Hulkster has his way, we could see him in the ring one more time, under the bright lights of WrestleMania 31. Hogan has been quite vocal in his desire to compete in one last match with WWE, and now reports indicate that the icon wants to face one of two men at Levi Stadium next March.
Hogan said that his dream match against a wrestler on the current roster would be John Cena.
“If I had to wrestle anyone right now on the current roster, it would be John Cena. That would be a dream match for me.”
If Hogan would get his way, he would step into the ring for a final time against either John Cena or “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at WrestleMania 31 next year. Unfortunately for those who would like to see that happen, it doesn’t seem likely.
While the idea of seeing Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the ring together is sure to get Attitude Era fans excited, the fact is it is highly unlikely we ever see Hogan compete in the ring again. The 61-year-old has had nine back surgeries over the years, and WWE officials are so concerned over his back that they won’t even sign off on letting him get physical in a short 15-second promo.
On top of that, if WWE is going to bring Austin back they need to do it right. And by doing it right I of course mean they need to beg CM Punk to come back and have him and Austin main event Mania.
Sorry fans of nostalgia, it doesn’t look like your favorite heroes of wrestling past will likely hit the ring any time soon. At least we can enjoy Brock Lesnar’s destruction of Cena over and over and over again.
