Jerry Jones wanted to pull the trigger, that is why he keeps talking about it. In the long-run he did what was best for the team, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all dream what fun it would have been to have Manziel on the Cowboys.
Here are Jerry’s latest quotes.
Jones, the Cowboys owner and general manager, pretty much confirmed a recent report by author Jim Dent that team vice president (and Jerry’s son) Stephen Jones had to rip the Johnny Manziel draft card from his father’s hand during the first round of the May NFL Draft.
“Figuratively speaking, it got close to that,” Jerry Jones said Tuesday during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan. “It certainly was a big debate going on, if no place else other than my mind.”
So, while there wasn’t an actual card, Jones wanted to do it, but was talked out of it by his son and others.
For that I will never forgive him.
