Today is a sad day for sneakerheads everywhere.
Jordan Brand hosted a few of the biggest names in the sneaker game yesterday to unveil some of their revamped 2015 retro releases. While discussing future releases, Jordan Brand VP of Footwear David Schechter dropped this bomb on sneakerheads everywhere.
“The Air Jordan 3 is going back in the vault. The last color just dropped,” said Schechter.
I think I speak for everyone when I say this is some devastating news. The sneaker, made famous during Michael Jordan’s free throw line dunk, is a favorite amongst collectors everywhere.
The Jordan 3 is the greatest sneaker of all-time. We’re not debating this people, it’s a fact. But, the shoe has been retroed numerous times over the past four years in multiple colorways, and discontinuing it for the foreseeable future will definitely help drive up demand for it when Jordan Brand does decide to bring it out again.
Until then, collectors everywhere better take good care of their Black Cements and True Blue’s because they won’t be releasing again any time soon.
Poor one out for the sneaker game’s G.O.A.T.
