Sometimes you just need a little break.
Kevin Durant backed out of playing for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup earlier this month. There was speculation that he was nervous after Paul George’s injury but that can be put to rest, pun intended. While on a panel to promote NBA 2K15 he had this to say about why he pulled out:
“It was definitely tough. But I think for myself it was best to step back and rest up,” Durant said. “You play a long 82-game season so I wanted to be smart and realize that I love USA Basketball, I love these guys, but I think it was best for me to step back and get rest and get ready for next season.”
I don’t have a problem with this at all. I’m sure lots of people want to see him play for Team USA but Thunder fans are doing the Tiger Woods fist pump.
