If we run across a story like this once every 6 months it’s still way too often. A Connecticut man has been acquitted of killing an 18 year old after a sneaker sale went awry.
TheShoeGame.com was one of the first places to find this tragic sneaker story.
“In June 2013, Gibbs was arrested after shooting 18 year old Issaac Smith to death while getting robbed of sneakers that he was supposed to sell to Smith. Gibbs and Smith met on a Facebook Sneaker Group where they arranged to meet up and complete a transaction where Gibbs would receive $400 in exchange for the Nikes Smith wanted.” reported TSG.
Eyewitness News 3 in Connecticut has a video of Gibbs after he was released.
It’s always sad to see anyone lose their life over something as trivial as sneakers. In this case a teenager is dead and a man spent 13 months in jail over a $400 pair of sneakers. Let this be another lesson that material objects are never worth your life or your freedom.
