The decision by Carmelo Anthony to remain with the Knicks instead of leaving for say the Bulls will be analyzed quite a bit in the coming years. If things play out the way most expect them to, the Knicks won’t sniff a championship and the Bulls will contend even without him.
Just how close was Melo to leaving the Big Apple though? Pretty close according to him:
“It was close. I don’t even like to talk about that no more,” he said. “This is home. There is no place like New York. Although the other situations were very intriguing, there is no place like New York.”
I still don’t understand how NY is home for Melo since he is from Baltimore but I digress. I don’t really blame him for staying in New York because leaving all that extra money on the table is foolish, but he has lost the right in two years to complain about the team not winning if/when that happens.
