Tony Romo’s career has came into question since his latest back surgery taken place, which would be his second within the last two years. Would Weeden take his place? How efficient can a QB be with extensive back problems be? Well, Romo will answer those questions when he plays against the Ravens this Saturday.
From ProfootballTalk, Romo has expressed that he is anxious to play for the team and fans he loves and prove that despite his setbacks, he’s still able to play the game he loves:
“I think you have to play in the preseason,” Romo said. “Obviously, some people can’t, but I do know from my perspective, this game is not just something where you can show up and think that you can do it. I think it’s been proven far too many times that if you take too long of a break or don’t get reps under you that you will be exposed in certain areas. I’m a firm believer that you have to play football to get better at football. Football’s a way of life. It’s not just [a] sometimes thing. It’s an all-the-time thing if you’re going to be a great player, and I think if you have the opportunity to play, you’ve got to play.”
Dallas is aiming for something new this season, to be better than 8-8. Can Romo lead this team back to their forme glory days or is it Weeden’s turn? He showed well during their first preseason game, leaving some impressed. Hopefully Romo can avoid back injuries and be the QB people know he has the potential to be.
